Meet Matthew

Hello, my name is Matthew Wood. I am a divorced father of four and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

With over 30 years of experience as a real estate broker in Texas, I expanded my passions in 2019 by entering the pet transportation industry.

It began with transporting rescue dogs from South Texas animal shelters to The Animal Pad (https://theanimalpad.org/) in San Diego, California. From there, I was invited to deliver five specially trained rescue dogs to Bainbridge Island, Washington, where they would serve as service animals.

I've been a lifelong dog enthusiast, often bringing home strays I encountered while playing with friends as a child. Despite my mother's warnings not to feed them, I couldn't resist, and many became beloved family pets. Through my work with rescue dogs, I've gained deep insights into the challenges they face, including euthanasia risks, overcrowded shelters, and owners who adopt adorable puppies without anticipating the training needs of full-grown dogs. In response to these experiences, I founded Paw Voyage LLC.

We specialize in pet transportation services for breeders, nonprofit rescues, and government law enforcement agencies across the United States. I've collaborated with law enforcement and fire departments in Missouri, New Jersey, and Florida, maintaining strong relationships to handle animals from seizures and abandonments. We assist in finding fosters for these pets until legal proceedings conclude. Additionally, we partner with over 300 breeders affiliated with the American Kennel Club and ranch herding dog associations.
